Be Optimistic

If you were to Google Roger C. Parker, you would discover a writer with authorship of over thirty-five books on marketing, communications, and desktop publishing.  As a child, he had a fascination and love for “hi fi,” and at one time he worked in our industry as Magnolia Hi Fi’s advertising and marketing manager in Seattle. That was decades ago, but he has stayed close to his friends in the world of Consumer Electronics.

Roger wrote a column over ten years ago when our country was going through a a recession not too different than the one we are experiencing now. After reading the column, it will be clear to you that his valuable insights are as applicable today as they were then. We hope that you will gain from his column and that working together we will all weather the current storm.  We want to thank IPRO the Independent Professional Sales Representatives Organization, which we are a member of, for providing us with this information to share with you.< /span>

The Phase Technology Velocity Series

Last week we told you about Phase Technology’s PC Premier Collection Series in-room loudspeakers.  This week we would like to introduce you to another fine series, the Phase Velocity Series of in-room speakers.  Although they are less expensive than the PC series they offer you five models of bookshelf, tower and surround speakers, all offering a high level of technology that you won’t find anywhere else.

The Velocity Series all deliver essential high-performance technologies including their signature soft-dome tweeter, and an all-new VDT™ vapor deposited titanium woofer which is engineered for astonishing definition in low- to mid-range frequency sound reproduction. To deliver unsurpassed clarity, Phase Tech's material science division has developed and patented a Composite UniFrame™ Structure baffle and basket assembly. This one-piece UniFrame design includes cutting-edge dampened viscous foam and an ultra-rigid MDF base layer. The result is an unyielding three-tier platform that eliminates vibrations at the source.

The line consists of the V-4 Bookshelf, the V-6 Bookshelf, the V-8 Bookshelf, the V-10 Tower, the V-12 Tower and the V-Surround Bipolar/Dipolar speakers, all available in several finishes to suit your client’s tastes.  The suggested retail prices are an amazing value and the dealer margins are substantial.  We ask you t o check them out and if you are looking for a change in your loudspeaker line-up we would love the opportunity to present this exciting series to you.  In addition PC and Phase Velocity Series, Phase Technology also provides a great line of powered subwoofers, Solaris outdoor speakers and CLR ARTE` speakers.  This is in addition to their full line of in-wall and in-ceiling lines.

EH Magazine Evaluated Yamaha's Presence

In light of Dolby Labs recent announcement of their “new” IIx decoding capabilities, we thought the timing was right to remind our loyal Yamaha dealers of Yamaha’s long standing “Presence” feature.  Just by coincidence, Electronic House magazine featured a great article entitled “Evaluating Yamaha’s added sound Presence” in their February 20th issue.  In Marshal Rosenthal’s excellent article he says “Today’s home theaters owe as much to audio as they do to video, and many people are adding additional speakers to take advantage of multi-channel audio.”  He goes on t o say that “aside from expanding your surround system from 5.1 to 6.1 or 7.1, there’s another option:  Presence speakers.  The additional front speakers work with Yamaha’s exclusive Cinema DSP technology.  In other words, you need a Yamaha receiver”.  He quotes Gene DellaSala, President of Audiolics.com as saying “The idea of Presence speakers is to really open the front surround field while preserving the imaging and sound quality of the main channels”.   The author does a test set-up in his own system and tries it out thoroughly on both movies and music.  He concludes his evaluation by saying “There is a large and loyal fan base of Yamaha customers that have bought into Presence speakers and proprietary DSP technology,” says DellaSala. But are Presence speakers right for you?  In my case, I’ll stick with the Presence set-up and get replacement rear speakers. I advise listening to someone’s set-up and deciding for yourself.  If you are already a fan of Presence speakers, DellaSala says you can go one step further with Yamaha’s RX-Z11. “(It) adds front AND back Presence or height channels. Provided you have the room for 11 speakers, it can really transform your room into a mega-cineplex. Sure it is a niche, but so is much of high end audio, isn’t it?”

As always, we urge you to download and print this great article.  It’s a great way to differentiate yourselves from your competition when you are presenting Yamaha.

Bigger, Stronger, Faster

The YST-SW315PN is Yamaha's 10” 250 watt high output powered subwoofer. This amazing subwoofer has tons of technology to deliver clean bass output and unreal lows. These technologies include:

1. An Integrated PWM Class D Power Amplifier for high output and controlled bass.

2. Advanced Yamaha Active Servo Technology (Advanced YST) is a unique system in which the speaker and amplifier work together to cancel out impedance so as to achieve perfectly linear motion in the speaker unit. Advanced YST helps to ensure the highest levels of sound pressure and overall performance.

3. QD-Bass technology which utilizes a downward firing woofer focused at a pyramid shaped plate that reduces audio distortion as well as evenly distributing the sound into your room.

4. Control and Performance with a high cut filter anywhere between 40Hz-140Hz and a frequency response as low as 20Hz, which is considered to be the lowest frequency that the human ears can hear!

If your customer wants something that is Bigger, Faster, and Stronger, recommend the Yamaha YST-SW315 to deliver better technology and better results.

RX-V465 HD For Less

The new receiver line really starts to cook with the introduction of the RX-V465 home theater receiver. Starting off with four HDMI inputs, this receiver will allow your customers to invite all of their HDMI products to the party. Not only do you get audio and video support through one cable, you also get internal Dolby True HD and DTS Master Audio decoding.

The RX-V465 has the YPAO microphone for auto setup and new easier to use SCENE buttons to make any installation a breeze. You will also notice a significantly larger front display with blue lettering to make it even easier to see and configure properly.

The RV-V465 is the first Yamaha receiver to have a totally redesigned back input panel to better meet your customers' needs, featuring inputs labeled by number instead of application making it more intuitive to customize the inputs being used.
